Waiting On Wednesday - December 2016

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine, It gives us the chance to tell others which upcoming releases we are waiting for or even books that are already published that we have yet to buy and are excited to read.

Laura's waiting on...
  • All That She Can See by Carrie Hope Fletcher - You've probably came across my rant about how I don't like books by people who are famour for other reasons but Carrie changed my mind on that with her On The Other Side I absolutely loved it, it might have been one of my favourite books this year so I am definetly waiting for her next one.
  • And Every Morning The Way Home Gets Longer And Longer by Fredrik Backman - This book sounds adorable and I also own all of Fredrik's work. Might aswell complete the collection
  • Dumplin' Book Two (Untitled) by Julie Murphy - I enjoyed the first book of this series but was a little disappointed with the ending I am hoping that this clarifies why Dumplin' ended the way it did.

Jen's waiting on...

  • Domina by LS Hilton - This is the sequel to Maestra, I just want to find out more about the bitch.
  • The Potion Diaries: Going Viral by Amy Alward - The third in this series, a delightful fantasy romp.
  • Six Tudor Queens: Anne Boleyn: A King's Obsession: Six Tudor Queens 2 by Alison Weir - I love historical fiction.
  • The Sunshine Girls by Jane Green - Could this live up to the genius of Falling?

Thoughts For 50 - Pages 359 - 398 Of The Sudden Appearance Of Hope By Claire North

My name is Hope Arden, and you won't know who I am. We've met before - a thousand times. I am the girl the world forgets.
It started when I was sixteen years old. A slow declining, an isolation, one piece at a time.
A father forgetting to drive me to school. A mother setting the table for three, not four. A teacher who forgets to chase my missing homework. A friend who looks at me and sees a stranger.
No matter what I do, the words I say, the people I hurt, the crimes I commit - you will never remember who I am.
That makes my life difficult. It also makes me dangerous...
THE SUDDEN APPEARANCE OF HOPE is the tale of a girl no one remembers, yet her story will stay with you forever.
Lauras Thoughts
I was hoping that since we are nearing the end of the book, Hallelujah!, the plot would begin to make sense but no, instead I just really can't wait to finish it! The only thing I remember about this weeks 50 pages is that there was a man sitting on top of a pilgrim and that is because I wish it was me so that I could escape this awful book, I know it sounds harsh but its true! It is awful. I was going to give this book to charity but I think that would defeat the object of helping them! On the plus side only one more read to go!
Jens Thoughts
We are on the penultimate hurdle of this book and I was desperate for excitement.  What should have been a thrilling addition, in how it ends, but it happens in a blurry moment.  The whole idea of the book I like, I just dislike the narrative.  The plot which is a comment on society seems to be obscured by meaningless trivialities and facts.  I just want to be able to like Hope as a character, but she is forgettable I am afraid.
Laura Predicts
  • Hope is the main part of Byrons desruction
  • Luca saves Hope from Byron
Jen Predicts
  • Hope will kill Byron
  • Hope will die and be remembered

Lauras Thoughts
As Jen Said 'Hey Macarena... WTF?'
The only thing memorable about this book is that it annoyingly embeds the macarena song into your head for days! I do think that the book has a lot of potential with the plot line but for some reason it has been gone about the wrong way, I was hoping that as the book progressed it would all slot together, with only two weeks left I am starting to doubt it. I really would like to be proved wrong... I can't believe we will actually be finishing this book on Christmas Eve/Day... is that a blessing or the opposite.

Jens Thoughts
Hey Macarena…..WTF?
I just don’t get it, is it me not wanting to get it?
I feel I am doing this book a disservice by reading it and not being fully understanding of what Claire North is trying to achieve. The basic premise is a good idea, but something is holding back its potential.
One of my predictions sort of came true this week; it has makings of a really good thriller, but I have no idea where it is all heading.
We have two weeks left on this book and I really cannot wait to finish it.

Laura Predicts
  • Hope is playing right into Byrons hands and has been programmed to cause even more mayhem that is going on at the moment
  • Hope will not be able to execute the task because Luca Evard will have an unexpected influence over her still
  • Fillipa will help Hope become remembered or Hope will be a hero and become instantly remembered because of it
Jen Predicts
  • Hope will become a patient and antidote to perfection
  • Fillipa and Hope will become friends
  • Byron will die
